Despite the ingredient's simplicity and availability, such experiments can only be harmful in the long run. Dermatologists remind us that baking soda has an alkaline pH, while the skin's natural pH is slightly acidic. This balance is important for the normal functioning of the skin barrier. Disrupting it can lead to irritation, dryness, and increased sensitivity, especially in such a delicate area as the under-eye area.
